CALCULATOR

Inventors has tried to perfect a 'sum machine' for many years, resulting in the invention of the pocket calculator in 1966. Its tempting to let calculators do all the ' head work' for you, but you still have input the numbers correctly!

Who invented the modern calculator?
Several inventors created ' adding devices'. Blaise Pascal devised a machine in 1642, which worked by turning dials, and Charles Babbage invented a 'computer' in 1834, which was a huge machine for solving maths problems. However, it was US company Texas Instrument who brought the modern, hand-held calculator to the market in 1967.

RADIO

Before radio was invented, the best way to send message to remote places or to ships in the middle of the ocean was to fasten a note to the leg of a pigeon

Who invented the radio?
Many inventors contributed towards the creation of the radio, but Italian Guglieilmo Marconi played an important part in developing the use of radio waves for transmitting sound and information, andmade huge steps in radio communication around the world.

However, a Crotian-born american, Nikola Tesla, is now created with the invention of the modern radio, after his 1943 patent was granted instead of Marcon's

On  18th june, 1940 churchill's uplifting speech was heard be British people through radios like this one. It encouraged them through the 'darkest hour' of the World War II and promised a policy of  'no surrender' to Nazi forces.

CAMERA

Today, you can buy many different sorts of camera: digital, single-use automatic, SLR (Single Lens Reflex)... cameras have come a long way since the first  camera obscuras were invented hundreds years ago.

What is camera?
A camera at its simplest focuses light onto film to make an image. Old-fashioned 'camera obscuras' used a lens to protect the image  of a whole landscape onto a screen in a darkened room. Standard cameras focus though a lens to record an image as a single photo that you can take away.

An example of a camera obscura. the image is reflected onto the mirror upside down, the reflecated the right way around by the second mirror.

WHAT WERE THE GREATEST INVENTIONS OF ALL TIME?

An aerosol spray is a canister holding a liquid under pressure from a pressurized vapor in equilibrium with a liquid which often also dissolves the payload (see propellant, below). When a valve is opened, the liquid is forced out of a small hole and emerges as an aerosol, or mist. As gas expands to drive out the payload, some propellant evaporates inside the can to maintain an even pressure. Outside the can, the droplets of propellant evaporate rapidly, leaving the payload suspended as very fine particles or droplets. Typical liquids dispensed in this way are insecticidesdeodorants and paints. An atomizer is a similar device that is pressured by a hand-operated pump rather than by stored gas.
The modern aerosol spray can was invented in 1962 by Erik Rotheim, a Norwegian engineer. Yet only in 1941 theAmericans Lyle Good hue and William Sullivan turned it into a useful device, used by military to spray the malaria mosquito during World War II.

Define Invention

New scientific or technical idea, and the means of its embodent or accomplishment. To be petentable, an invention must  be novel, have utility, and be non-obvious. to be called an invention, an idea only needs to be proven as workable. But  to called an innovation , it must also be replicable at an economical cost, and must satify a specific need. That's why only few inventions lead to innovations because not all ohf them are economically feasible.
