CALCULATOR

Inventors has tried to perfect a 'sum machine' for many years, resulting in the invention of the pocket calculator in 1966. Its tempting to let calculators do all the ' head work' for you, but you still have input the numbers correctly!

Who invented the modern calculator?
Several inventors created ' adding devices'. Blaise Pascal devised a machine in 1642, which worked by turning dials, and Charles Babbage invented a 'computer' in 1834, which was a huge machine for solving maths problems. However, it was US company Texas Instrument who brought the modern, hand-held calculator to the market in 1967.

RADIO

Before radio was invented, the best way to send message to remote places or to ships in the middle of the ocean was to fasten a note to the leg of a pigeon

Who invented the radio?
Many inventors contributed towards the creation of the radio, but Italian Guglieilmo Marconi played an important part in developing the use of radio waves for transmitting sound and information, andmade huge steps in radio communication around the world.

However, a Crotian-born american, Nikola Tesla, is now created with the invention of the modern radio, after his 1943 patent was granted instead of Marcon's
